Wolfpack Ultimate - Building for a Championship

The N.C. State Ultimate team is entering its tenth year as one of the country's top-ranked Ultimate teams, and during the upcoming year, State will be playing in tournaments in Richmond, Atlanta, Wilmington, and other cities around the Southeast. The team returns sixteen of the twenty players from last year's team that went 40-4 in the spring, and is looking to improve on that record with the experience of veterans Adam Stetten, Jack Galloway, Jason Cade, Steve Carpenter, and Gil Elhart.

Dave Snoke, MVP of the NCSU varsity soccer team, and Ryan Smith are expected to return to play with the team following the fall Club Series.

Wolfpack Finishes 12th at the College Nationals in Austin

Following the best spring season in team history, where the Wolfpack battled to a 37-1 record that included three tournament championships and a first place finish at Sectionals and Regionals, N.C. State Ultimate earned a number one seed to the 2003 UPA College Championships in Austin, Texas.

After a long weekend of tough competition and late-game breakdowns, the Wolfpack's season ended with a disappointing 12th-place finish at Nationals. A long game against Georgia in pool play cost the team dearly, and a loss to William and Mary in the pre-quarters ended the team's dream of a second National Title.

Despite ending the season on a sour note, the team still accomplished some amazing things over the course of the season, amounting a 40-4 record and a ranking as high as #4 in the country. With many veteran players returning this year, the team hopes to return to Nationals in the spring of 2004, seasoned and ready to win it all.

Wolfpack Ultimate - A Winning Tradition

After winning the National Championship in 1999, the N.C. State Men's Ultimate team again qualified for the National tournament in 2000, and finished eighth in the country after losing to the eventual champions, Brown University.

Over 240 colleges across the country have Ultimate teams, and the National Championship tournament includes North America's sixteen top teams. The 2001 Championships were held in Boston, Massachusetts with the finals being played at the Tufts football stadium before a packed crowd; the finals featured Carleton College defeating the University of Colorado by a score of 15-11. The 2002 Championships were held in Spokane, Washington, with the heavy favorite, Stanford, winning easily over the University of Wisconsin. The 2003 Championships were held in the hot and humid climate of Austin, Texas, with Wisconsin pulling out a rather easy victory over the favored Oregon Ducks by a count of 15-8.

The 2004 UPA College Championships, in a return to the state of Washington, will be held in Seattle over Memorial Day weekend.
